Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Maqsim narrates that a man used to recite the verse of prostration after Fajr and would perform prostration. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) forbade him from doing so, but he did not desist. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) scolded him and said that these people do not understand.

Hazrat Abu Tamimah Hijimi narrates that I used to recite the verse of prostration after Fajr and perform sajdah; Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) sent a message and forbade me from doing so.

Ibn Awn narrates that Saeed bin Abi Al-Hasan used to recite the Holy Qur'an after Fajr. When he came across a verse of prostration, he would pass over it. After performing the prayer, he would recite that verse and perform the prostration.

Hazrat Mubarak says that I saw Hasan recite a verse of prostration after Asr, and when the sun had set, he recited it and performed the prostration.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Utbah narrates that Hazrat Abu Ayyub used to recite (the Quran), and when the sun would set, he would recite the verse of prostration and perform sajdah (prostration).

Hazrat Abu Ghalib narrates that Hazrat Abu Umamah considered it disliked to perform prayer after Asr until sunset and after Fajr until sunrise. The people of Sham would recite a verse of prostration after Asr. If Abu Umamah saw any of them reciting such a surah after Asr in which there was a prostration of recitation, he would not sit with them.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) heard a man reciting a verse of prostration before the prayer became permissible. Upon this, he also performed prostration, and the people sitting with him also performed prostration. Hazrat Umar held my hand, and when the time of Duha (forenoon) arrived, he said, "O Nafi'! Come, let us perform that prostration which those people performed at an improper time."
