Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman Salmi says that we used to recite (the Qur'an) to Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman while walking. When he would recite a verse of prostration, he would say Allahu Akbar, bow with a gesture, and then say salam.

Ibrahim narrates that if the students of Abdullah recited a verse of prostration while walking, they would bow by gesture.

If Hazrat Aswad recited a verse of prostration while walking, he would bow by making a gesture.

If Hazrat Alqamah recited a verse of prostration while walking, he would bow by making a gesture.

Hazrat Ash'ath says that I asked Kurdus, "If a person recites a verse of prostration while walking, what should he do?" He replied that he should bow by making a gesture.

Hazrat Ammarah bin Qaqa’ says that Abu Zar’ah bin Amr bin Jarir mentioned bowing upon reciting a verse of prostration, so I informed him that once Ibrahim, while walking, recited a verse of prostration and bowed by gesture.

Ibrahim Taimi says that sometimes my father and I would be together on a road, and if he ever recited a verse of prostration, he would perform prostration. I would ask him, "Do you perform prostration on the road?" He would reply, "Yes."

Hazrat Rabi’ bin Anas says that I asked Abu Aliah, “Sometimes I pass through a narrow alley and hear someone reciting a verse of prostration from the Qur’an. Should I perform the prostration there on the way?” He replied, “Yes, perform the prostration on the way.”

Muhammad says that if Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud was ever reciting (the Qur'an) while walking and came upon a verse of prostration, he would move to one side and perform the prostration.

Hazrat Salamah bin Kuhail says that when you recite a verse of prostration while walking, then place your forehead on the first wall that comes before you.
