Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Salamah says that the predecessors used to liken the prayer performed after the decline of the sun to the prayer of Tahajjud.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that be steadfast in offering the prayer performed after the sun passes its zenith; we used to consider it recommended.

Hazrat Saad bin Ibrahim says that at the time of the Zuhr adhan, when the sun declines, perform the prayer of Zawal; whoever performs this prayer, it is as if he has performed the Tahajjud prayer.

Hazrat Aswad narrates that he and Hazrat Alqamah found a manuscript, and they took it to Hazrat Abdullah and sat at his door. When the sun had declined or was about to decline, he got up and sent his maid to see who was at the door. She returned and informed him that Alqamah and Aswad were there. He said, "Allow them to come to me." When we presented ourselves, he said, "Perhaps you have been sitting at the door for quite some time." We replied, "Yes." He said, "Then why did you not ask for permission to enter?" We said, "We thought perhaps you might be sleeping." He said, "Do not think this about me! This is the hour in which we liken the prayer to the Tahajjud prayer."

Hazrat Ja'far's father says that the prayer of Awwabeen is the one which is offered after the sun has declined.
