Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Salamah narrates that Hazrat Umar performed the Maghrib prayer but did not recite (Qira'at) in it. When he finished the prayer, the people said to him, "You did not recite (Qira'at)!" Hazrat Umar asked them, "How were the bowing (ruku) and prostration (sajdah)? Were they complete?" The people replied, "Yes." Hazrat Umar said, "Then there is no harm. I was thinking in my heart about the preparation of an army."

Hazrat Hakam states that if a person forgets to recite (Qira'at) in prayer and completes the prayer, his prayer will be valid; not everyone recites (Qira'at).

Hazrat Qatadah, regarding the person who forgets to recite (Qira'at) in Zuhr and Asr prayers and completes the prayer, says that if he has performed the bowing (Ruku) and prostration (Sajdah) properly, then his prayer will be valid.

Hazrat Harith narrates that a man came to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I have performed the prayer, but I forgot to recite (Qira'at). What should I do now?" Hazrat Ali asked him, "Did you perform the bowing (ruku) and prostration (sajda) properly?" He replied, "Yes." Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Your prayer is valid."
