Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal Muzani narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pray in the enclosures of goats, but do not pray in the places where camels are tied, for they have been created from the devil."

Hazrat Bara bin Azib narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about performing prayer in the places where camels are tied. He replied, "Do not pray in them." Then he was asked about performing prayer in sheep enclosures, and he replied, "Pray in them, for there is blessing in them."

This hadith is narrated through another chain, but it does not mention "for indeed it is a blessing."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When you have no place to pray except a sheepfold or a place where camels are tied, then do not pray in the place where camels are tied.

It is narrated from Hazrat Sabrah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said that prayer should not be performed in the places where camels are tied, but prayer may be performed in the places where goats are tied.

Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah narrates that prayer will be offered in the enclosure of goats, but prayer will not be offered at the place where camels are tied.

Hazrat Ma'iz bin Nazlah narrates that Hazrat Abu Dharr came to us and offered prayer in the goat pen.

Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah narrates that a man asked Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) about performing prayer at the place where camels are tied, so he forbade him and said that you can perform prayer at the place of goats.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that before the construction of the mosque, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer prayers in a goat enclosure.

Hazrat Ismail bin Abdur Rahman says that Hazrat Umar offered prayer at a place where there were signs of goats and camels having stayed.

Hazrat Asim bin Munzir says that Hazrat Ibn Zubair went to Muzdalifah at a time other than the months of Hajj. There, he led us in prayer in a sheepfold, even though there were other places where he could have led us in prayer. But I think he wanted to show us that it is permissible to offer prayer at this place.

Muhammad says that when the predecessors could not find any place other than the sheepfolds and the places where camels are tied, they used to prefer the sheepfolds.

Ibrahim says: "Pray in the places where the goats stay."

Hazrat Abad bin Rashid says that Hasan considered it undesirable to pray at the place where camels are tied, and saw no harm in performing prayer in a goat pen.

Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair used to say that I have a kid goat which sleeps in the place where I pray and also drops its droppings there.

Hazrat Amir says that Hazrat Jundub bin Amir Salmi used to offer prayers in the enclosures of goats and camels.

Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah says that we used to offer prayers in the sheep pens, but we did not offer prayers in the places where camels were tied.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Offer prayer in sheep enclosures, but do not offer prayer in camel enclosures."

Ibrahim says that there is no harm in offering prayer at the place where goats are tied.

Hazrat Waki’ considered it permissible to pray in the enclosures of camels, and he did not believe that ablution is broken by eating camel meat.

Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to pray in sheep enclosures and not to pray in camel enclosures.
