Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Jubair bin Mut'im narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting Surah At-Tur in the Maghrib prayer.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from his mother that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting Surah Al-Mursalat in the Maghrib prayer.

Hazrat Zaid or Hazrat Abu Ayyub narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Al-A'raf in both rak'ahs of Maghrib.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Yazid narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah At-Tin in Maghrib prayer.

Hazrat Amr bin Maymoon says that Hazrat Umar led us in the Maghrib prayer; in the first rak'ah he recited Surah At-Tin, and in the second he recited Surah Al-Fil and Surah Quraish.

Hazrat Zararah bin Abi Aufi narrates that Hazrat Abu Musa made me read a letter from Hazrat Umar in which it was written that in the Maghrib prayer, recite from the last Mufassal.

Hazrat Abu Uthman Nahdi says that Hazrat Abu Mas'ud led us in the Maghrib prayer and recited Surah Al-Ikhlas in it. Hearing his beautiful voice, my heart wished that he would recite Surah Al-Baqarah.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Harith narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) recited Surah Ad-Dukhan in the Maghrib prayer.

Hazrat Abu Nofal says that I heard Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) reciting Surah An-Nasr in Maghrib.

Hazrat Amr bin Murrah says that I heard Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) reciting Surah Qaf in Maghrib.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) recited Surah Yasin in Maghrib.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) recited Surah Yaseen and Surah An-Naba in Maghrib.

Hasan narrates that Hazrat Imran bin Husain used to recite Surah Az-Zalzalah and Surah Al-Adiyat in Maghrib.

Hazrat Ismail bin Abdul Malik says that I heard Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair in Maghrib (reciting Surah Az-Zalzalah) saying { تُنَبِّیئُ أَخْبَارَہَا } once and { تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَہَا } once.

Hazrat Mahal says that Ibrahim used to recite Surah Al-Quraysh in the first rak'ah of Maghrib.

Hazrat Rabee' says that Hasan used to always recite Surah Az-Zalzalah and Surah Al-Adiyat in Maghrib prayer.

Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Mu'adh led some people in the Maghrib prayer. Meanwhile, a slave of the Ansar, who was working with his camel, passed by and joined the congregation. Hazrat Mu'adh recited for a long time, due to which the slave broke his prayer and went out in search of his camel. When this matter reached the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said, "O Mu'adh! Do you want to turn people away from the religion? None of you should recite Surah Al-A'la and Surah Ash-Shams in Maghrib."

Hazrat Naseer bin Zaalooq narrates that Hazrat Rabee’ bin Khuthaim used to recite Surah Al-Kafiroon and Surah Al-Ikhlas from the short Mufassal surahs in Maghrib prayer.

Hazrat Dahhak bin Uthman says that I heard Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz reciting from the shorter surahs of the Mufassal in Maghrib prayer.
