Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Musa says that whoever hears the voice of a muezzin and, without a valid excuse, does not respond to it, then his prayer is not valid.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that whoever hears the voice of the muezzin and does not respond to it without a valid excuse, his prayer is not valid.

Hazrat Abu Huraira says that it is better for the son of Adam that his ear be filled with molten copper than that he hears the call of the announcer and does not respond to it.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that whoever hears the voice of the muezzin and does not respond, then neither did he intend good nor was good intended for him.

Hazrat Ibn Masood says that whoever hears the voice of the muezzin and does not respond to it without a valid excuse, his prayer is not accepted.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin narrates that Hazrat Usman once came out, and he had washed half of his head. He said that the muezzin had arrived, so I was in a hurry, and I disliked stopping him.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the prayer of the neighbor of the mosque is only in the mosque. Someone asked him, "Who is the neighbor of the mosque?" He replied, "The one who hears the voice of the muezzin."

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that whoever hears the call to prayer (adhan) and, without a valid excuse, does not come for the prayer, then his prayer does not rise above his head.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when you respond to the call of any caller, then respond to the call of Allah's caller.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad narrates that one night the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the Isha prayer briefly, then said that I feel inclined to appoint someone to lead the prayer, then the call to prayer be given, and I go to the houses of those who do not come to the mosque for prayer and burn them down.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umm Maktum came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "There are many insects and marshy places in Madinah. Is there a concession for me to perform the Isha and Fajr prayers at home?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do you hear 'Hayya 'ala-s-Salah' and 'Hayya 'ala-l-Falah'?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then you must come for the prayer."

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umm Maktum came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I am a blind man and my house is far. And I have no one who can hold my hand and bring me to the mosque. Is there a concession for me that I do not come to the mosque?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No."

Hazrat Mujahid says that a man came to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked: A man fasts during the day and worships at night, but does not attend Friday (prayer) and congregation. If he dies, what will happen? He replied: He will go to Hell.
