الشفق ما هو؟
What is 'shafaq'?
Hadith 3396
٣٣٩٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: (حدثنا) (١) وكيع عن العمري عن نافع عن ابن عمر قال: الشفق الحمرة (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that shafaq is the name of redness.
Hadith 3397
٣٣٩٧ - حدثنا ابن نمير ووكيع عن (ثور) (١) عن مكحول قال: كان عبادة بن الصامت وشداد بن أوس يصليان العشاء الآخرة إذا غابت الحمرة (٢).
Hazrat Mak'hool states that Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit and Hazrat Shaddad bin Aws used to perform the Isha prayer after the redness (of the sky) had disappeared.
Hadith 3398
٣٣٩٨ - حدثنا محمد بن عبيد عن العوام بن (حوشب) (١) قال: قلت لمجاهد: الشفق، قال: لا (تقل) (٢) الشفق؛ إن الشفق من الشمس، ولكن قل: حمرة الأفق.
Hazrat Awam bin Hawshab says that I mentioned the name "shafaq" before Hazrat Mujahid. He said, "Do not call it shafaq; shafaq is of the sun. You should call it the redness of the horizon."
Hadith 3399
٣٣٩٩ - حدثنا يحيى بن أبي (بكير) (١) قال: (أخبرنا) (٢) فضيل بن مرزوق قال: سألت جابر الجعفي عن هذه الآية: ﴿حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ﴾ [البقرة: ١٨٧]، فقال: قال سعيد بن جبير: فهو حمرة الأفق.
Hazrat Fudayl bin Marzooq says that I asked Hazrat Jabir Jufi about this verse { حَتَّی یَتَبَیَّنَ لَکُمُ الْخَیْطُ الأَبْیَضُ مِنَ الْخَیْطِ الأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ } so he replied that Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair used to say that it refers to the redness of the horizon.
