Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Sha’tha says that I was sitting with Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). He saw a man whose face bore marks of prostration. He said to him, “A person’s appearance is his face. So none of you should spoil his appearance.”

Hazrat Abu Awn Aw'ar says that Hazrat Abu Darda saw a woman who had a mark between her eyes similar to the callus that forms on a goat's body due to sitting, that is, a mark like the one that forms on the foot due to sitting excessively. He said, "If there was not such a mark between the eyes of the third one, it would have been better."

Hazrat Yazid bin Asam says that I said to Hazrat Maymunah, "Have you seen that person who strikes his forehead on the ground like a beak and wants a mark of prostration to appear on his forehead!" Hazrat Maymunah mockingly said, "Let him do so, perhaps by pecking so much he will enter into the ground!"

Hazrat Harith narrates that Hazrat Sha'bi disliked the mark of prostration on the face.

Hazrat Habib bin Abi Thabit says that I asked Hazrat Mujahid about the mark between my eyes, so he said: When you perform prostration, place your forehead lightly on the ground.
