Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I and Hazrat Fadl were riding on a donkey, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was leading the people in prayer. We passed in front of a row and got down from the donkey and let it graze, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not say anything to us about this.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer in an open place where there was nothing in front of him.

Hazrat Hajjaj says that I asked Hazrat Ata about a person who prays in an open place and there is nothing in front of him, so he replied that there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Abu Ishaq says that I saw Hazrat Ibn Mughaffal praying in an open place and there was nothing between him and the Qiblah.

Hazrat Khalid bin Abi Bakr narrates that I saw Hazrat Qasim and Hazrat Salim performing prayer in the desert during a journey without any sutrah.

Hazrat Hisham says that my father used to pray without a sutrah.

Hazrat Jabir says that I saw Hazrat Abu Ja'far and Hazrat 'Amir performing prayer without a sutrah.

Hazrat Mahdi bin Maimoon says that I saw Hasan praying in an open place without a sutrah.

Hazrat Amr bin Dinar says that I saw Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah praying in the mosque of Mina, and people were praying in front of him. Some young men from his household came and sat in front of him.
