Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Wa'il narrates that I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrating on his forehead and nose.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that when any one of you performs prostration, he should firmly place his nose on the ground. Because Allah Almighty desires this from you.

Ibrahim says that prostration is performed on the forehead and the nose.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Isa narrates that once Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila passed by me while I was in the state of prostration. He said to me, "O Ibn Isa! Place your nose on the ground for Allah."

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that a person's prayer cannot be complete until he places his nose on the ground just as he places his forehead.

Ayyub narrates that someone asked Hazrat Tawus whether prostration should be performed on the nose. He replied, "Is the nose not the most honorable part of the face?"

Hazrat Asim narrates that if Hazrat Ibn Sirin performed prostration at a place where his nose did not touch the ground, he would perform prostration at another place.

Hazrat Thabit bin Qais narrates that I saw Hazrat Nafi’ bin Jubair with his nose touching the ground.

Hazrat Ikrimah narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw a man performing prostration whose nose was not touching the ground. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The prayer of the person whose nose does not touch the place where his forehead touches will not be accepted.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) when performing prostration, would place his nose along with his forehead.
