Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Ishaq narrates that Hazrat Bara was asked, "Where did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) place his face during prostration?" He replied, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to place his face between his two hands."

Hazrat Wa'il bin Hujr narrates that one day I decided in my heart to carefully observe the method of prayer of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So I saw that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prostration, he placed his blessed head between his two hands at the same spot where it was between his hands at the time of the opening takbeer, and both hands were near the ears.

Hazrat Wa'il bin Hujr narrates that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in prostration; both of his hands were near his ears.

Hazrat Salim Barad narrates that we went to meet Hazrat Abu Masood in his room. We requested him to teach us the way the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer. So he offered the prayer, and when he prostrated, he placed his palms near his head.

Hazrat Aswad bin Yazid says that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) was asked: When a person performs prostration, where should he place his hands? He replied: He should place them wherever it is easy for him.

Hazrat Abu Hazim says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that sometimes there is little space in the row, so where should I place my hands? He replied, "Place them wherever it is convenient."
