Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands up to the shoulders when beginning the prayer.

Hazrat Wa'il bin Hujr says that when I came to Madinah, I told the people that I wished to observe the prayer of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So I saw that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said the Takbir-e-Tahrima, he raised his hands so much that his thumbs came close to his ears.

Hazrat Bara bin Azib narrates that I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raise his hands up to the level of his ears when he began the prayer.

Hazrat Malik bin Huwairith narrates that I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raising his hands in prayer to the extent that they reached the level of his earlobes.

Hazrat Aswad narrates that Hazrat Umar used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders during prayer.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders in prayer.

Ibrahim says that do not raise the hands above the ears in prayer.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far says that at the time of Takbeer-e-Tahreema, the hands should not be raised higher than the ears.

Ibn Aun states that Muhammad used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders in prayer.

Hazrat Abu Maisarah says that our companions, when they began the prayer, used to raise their hands up to their ears.

Hazrat Ata says that in supplication and the like, do not raise the hands above the ears.

Hazrat Muharib narrates that if you had seen Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) while starting the prayer, you would have seen that he used to raise his hands up to the level of his face.

Hazrat Sulaiman bin Yasar narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders in prayer.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah says that some of you raise your hands higher than your heads. Some people keep their hands near their stomachs, and some people used to raise their hands equal to their shoulders.

Hazrat Khalid bin Abi Bakr narrates that I saw Hazrat Salim, when he stood for prayer, he used to raise his hands up to his shoulders.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Dhi'b says that Hazrat Salim used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders during prayer.
