Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn al-Hanafiyyah narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The key to prayer is ablution, the sanctification of prayer is the opening takbeer, and the conclusion of prayer is the salam."

Hazrat Abdullah says that the beginning of prayer is marked by the Takbeer-e-Tahreema, and the ending of prayer is marked by the Salaam.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The key to prayer is ablution, the sanctification of prayer is the Takbeer-e-Tahreema, and the conclusion of prayer is Salam.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the key to prayer is ablution, the sanctification of prayer is the Takbeer-e-Tahreema, and the conclusion of prayer is Salam.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin the prayer with Takbeer and end it with Salam.

Hazrat Abu Darda says that everything has a distinguishing mark, and the distinguishing mark of prayer is the Takbeer-e-Tahreema.

Hazrat Mujahid and Hazrat Tawus say that the prayer is completed upon (reciting) Tashahhud, and Salam is the permission to finish it.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that after saying Salam, the prayer does not remain.

Hazrat Abu Majliz says that when the Imam says salam, then the followers’ prayer is also completed.
