Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ata says that Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair had two locks of hair on his head. When he performed ablution, he would wipe over them.

Ibrahim says that you may wipe over any part of your head; it is permissible.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that you may wipe (masah) over any part of your head; it is permissible.

Hazrat Ata says that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped (performed masah) over the front part of his head.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that pouring enough water over your head is sufficient for you. Then he put both his hands into the water. Then he performed masah (wiping) of the head in such a way that he placed his palms in the middle of the head and then moved them towards the front part of the head.
