Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Maymunah narrates that after performing ablution, a cloth was brought to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but he did not touch it and said that the water can be shaken off like this.

Hazrat Jabir says that after performing ablution, do not use a towel.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that after performing ghusl (ritual bath) due to janabah, a towel should be used, but after performing ablution (wudu) for prayer, a towel should not be used.

Hazrat Mansur says that Ibrahim and Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair considered the use of a handkerchief after ablution to be disliked.

Hazrat Ata considered the use of a handkerchief after ablution to be disliked and used to say that these handkerchiefs are something you have invented!

Hazrat Abu Al-Aaliyah and Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib considered it disliked to wipe the face with a towel after ablution.

Ibrahim states that the predecessors considered the use of a handkerchief after ablution to be disliked, out of fear that it might become a habit.

Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib considered the use of a handkerchief to be disliked and said that even the weight of this water will be accounted for.
