Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Urwah liked that a person should sleep in a state of ablution whenever he sleeps.

Hasan liked that a person should sleep in a state of ablution whenever he sleeps.

Hazrat Ikrimah says that whoever sleeps in a state of ablution while remembering Allah, his bed remains in the ruling of a mosque for him until he gets up.

Hazrat Mujahid says that if you are able, then sleep in a state of ablution while remembering Allah and seeking forgiveness for your sins, because it has reached us that souls will be raised in the same state in which they were taken.

Hazrat Abu Salih Hanafi says: When a person, having performed ablution, comes towards his bed, the angels touch his bed.

Hazrat Abu Umamah narrates that whoever goes to sleep in a state of ablution and wakes up during the night, whatever he asks Allah Almighty for of this world or the Hereafter, Allah Almighty will grant it to him.

When Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) would wake up at night, he would perform tayammum.

Hazrat Amr bin Abasah narrates that when a person, having performed ablution, lies down on his bed and continues to remember Allah until he falls asleep, and upon waking up, the first thing he says is, "O Allah! You are pure, there is no deity except You, forgive me," then he emerges from his sins just as a snake sheds its skin.
