Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ja'far says that his father did not consider it objectionable for a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) or a menstruating woman (haizah) to recite the Qur'an.

Hazrat Ikrimah did not consider it objectionable for a person in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) to recite one or two verses of the Holy Qur'an.

Ibrahim and Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair, regarding the junubi (one in a state of major ritual impurity) and the menstruating woman, state that they will begin from the start of the verse but will not complete it to the end.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that he will not recite, nor will he recite even a single letter.

Hazrat Umar bin Abdullah narrates that I asked Saeed bin Jubair whether a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and a menstruating woman can recite the Qur'an. He replied that they can recite one or two verses.

The same is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Ma'qil.

Hazrat Hammad says that Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib said that a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) can recite the Qur'an. I mentioned this matter to Ibrahim, and he disliked it.

Hazrat Abu Alia says that a menstruating woman should not recite the Qur'an.

Muhammad says that a menstruating woman should not recite the Qur'an.

Ibrahim says that a menstruating woman may recite less than one verse, but she should not recite a complete verse.

Hazrat Umar says that a menstruating woman should not recite the Qur'an.

Hazrat Aamir says that a menstruating woman should not recite the Qur'an.
