Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that if a person becomes junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) and has wounds or boils on his body, and there is a fear of losing life by performing ghusl (ritual bath), then he should perform tayammum (dry ablution) with earth.

Hasan and Hazrat Sha'bi, regarding a person who has boils or is wounded, state that he should perform tayammum.

Hasan, regarding the person who has boils or fears for his life, says that he should perform tayammum.

Hazrat Hakam and Hazrat Maqsim, regarding a person who has boils or wounds and is not able to use water, state that he should perform tayammum.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (regarding the person who is afflicted with boils, wounds, or illness, then becomes in a state of janabah and does not have the strength to perform ghusl) says that he should perform tayammum.

Hazrat Tawus, regarding a sick person who becomes junub and fears for his life if he performs ghusl, says that he should perform tayammum.

Hazrat Mujahid (regarding those afflicted with boils and other similar disabled persons who fear for their lives) says that they are like travelers and will perform tayammum.

Hazrat Ata narrates that during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, a man had a wet dream and there were boils and sores on his body. The people made him perform ghusl (ritual bath), and as a result, he passed away. When this matter reached the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, he said, "They have ruined him, may Allah ruin them; they have killed him, may Allah kill them."
