Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Awza'i says that I asked Zuhri, "If a man is in a state of janabah and he has only enough water to perform wudu, what should he do?" He replied, "He should perform tayammum." 'Abdah bin Abi Lubabah said, "He should perform wudu and also perform tayammum."

Hasan was asked: If a person in a state of major impurity does not have water available for ghusl, what should he do? He replied: He should perform tayammum.
