Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that in the summer, sometimes Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to wash his arms up to the armpits.

Ibrahim has regarded it as disliked.

Hazrat Abu Zar’ah narrates that I entered Marwan’s house with Hazrat Abu Hurairah. Hazrat Abu Hurairah asked for a vessel of water. When he washed his hands, he washed them beyond the elbows, and when he washed his feet, he washed them up to the shins. I asked, “What is this?” He replied, “This is for the increase of adornment on the Day of Resurrection.”

Hazrat Abu Zar’ah narrates that I went to Hazrat Abu Hurairah, and during ablution he washed his hands up to the shoulders and his feet up to the knees. I said, “Is not the amount prescribed by Allah sufficient for you?” He replied, “Why not, but I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that a person’s adornment in Paradise will reach up to the places where the water of ablution reaches. So I desire that my adornment be increased.”
