Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Qalabah says that Hazrat Abu Qatadah would tilt the vessel for the cat, and it would drink water from it. Then he would perform ablution with the same water and would say, "It is a household creature."

The daughter-in-law of Hazrat Abu Qatadah, Hazrat Kabshah bint Ka'b, narrates that she was pouring water for Hazrat Abu Qatadah to perform ablution when a cat came by, and it was thirsty. So Hazrat Abu Qatadah tilted the vessel for the cat. I began to look at this scene with astonishment, so he said, "Daughter, why are you astonished? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said that the cat is not impure; it is an animal that roams around in your houses."

Hazrat Ibn Hakeem says that I asked Hazrat Abu Wa'il about the ruling on the leftover food or drink of a cat, so he replied that there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Safiyyah bint Daab reports that she asked Hussain bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) about the ruling regarding the leftover water of a cat, and he replied, "It is a part of the household."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that a cat is one of the household items.

A man from Madinah narrates that once water for ablution was placed for Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). A cat drank from that water. When he came to perform ablution, he was informed about this. He said, "The cat is part of the household."

Ibrahim says, "There is no harm in what a cat has licked."

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "There is no harm in performing ablution with what is left behind by a cat; it is part of the household."

Hazrat Khalid narrates that once a cat drank water from the vessel of Hazrat Abu Al-Ala, so he performed ablution with the leftover water.

Hasan did not consider it objectionable to use what a cat had eaten from.

Hazrat Ikrimah narrates that whenever water for ablution was placed for Hazrat Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib and he was occupied with some work, if a cat came and drank from it during that time, he would perform ablution with that water and offer prayer.

Hazrat Abu Umamah says that a cat is one of the household items.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the leftovers of a cat, so he replied that there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Abu Qatadah narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The cat is among those (animals) that move about in the house."

Hazrat Abu Ishaq narrates that once a cat put its mouth in the milk at Hazrat Alqama's house. The household wanted to throw away that milk, but Hazrat Alqama said that throwing it away is burdensome to my heart!
