Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Qatadah says that Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to wipe his head three times, and for each wiping he would take fresh water separately.

Hazrat Shu’bah says that I asked Hazrat Qatadah and Hazrat Hammad about taking fresh water for wiping the head, so both of them said that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to take fresh water for wiping the head.

Hazrat Hisham says that Hazrat Ibn Sirin's opinion was that fresh water should be taken for wiping the head.

Hazrat Aflah says that I saw Hazrat Qasim performing ablution; he used to take fresh water for wiping the head.

Hazrat Amr narrates that Hasan Basri used to take fresh water for wiping the head.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took water in his palm and wiped his head and ears with it.

Hazrat Nafi' reports that Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to take fresh water for wiping the head.

Hazrat Mus'ab bin Sa'd narrates that for wiping the head (masah), take fresh water.
