Hadith 9686
٩٦٨٦ - حدثنا (عبدة) (١) بن سليمان عن (مجالد) (٢) عن وبرة قال: جاء رجل إلى ابن عمر (فقال) (٣): أباشر امرأتي وأنا صائم؟ فقال: لا. ثم جاءه آخر فقال: أباشر امرأتي وأنا صائم؟ قال: نعم. فقيل له: يا أبا عبد الرحمن قلت: لهذا نعم وقلت لهذا: لا؟ فقال: إن هذا شيخ وهذا شاب (٤).
Hazrat Wabra reports that a man came to Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked, "Can I embrace my wife while fasting?" He replied, "No." Another man came and asked the same question, and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, "Yes, you can." People asked him, "You permitted one man and forbade the other; what is the reason for this?" Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, "One was young and the other was old."
