ما قالوا في صوم (يوم) عاشوراءFasting on the Day of Ashura
Hadith 9610
٩٦١٠ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن عمارة عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد قال: دخل الأشعث بن قيس على عبد اللَّه وهو يتغدى قال: يا أبا محمد ادن إلى (غدائي) (١) فقال: أو ليس اليوم يوم عاشوراء؟ فقال: وهل تدري ما يوم عاشوراء؟ (فقال) (٢): وما هو؟ قال: إنما هو يوم كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يصومه قبل أن (ينزل) ⦗٢١⦘ (عليه) (٣) شهر (رمضان) (٤) فلما نزل شهر رمضان (تركه) (٥) (٦).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid says that once Hazrat Ash'ath bin Qais came to Hazrat Abdullah. Hazrat Abdullah was eating food, and he invited Ash'ath bin Qais to eat as well. He said, "Is today not the day of Ashura?" Hazrat Abdullah asked, "Do you know what the day of Ashura is?" He asked, "What is it?" Hazrat Abdullah replied, "It is the day on which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast before the obligation of Ramadan. When the fasts of Ramadan were made obligatory, he stopped fasting on this day."
