Hadith 8400
٨٤٠٠ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن الزهري عن عروة عن عائشة أن الصلاة أول ما فرضت ركعتين فزيدت في صلاة الحضر وأقرت (في) (١) صلاة السفر فقلت لعروة: ⦗٢٧٦⦘ ما بال عائشة كانت تتم الصلاة في السفر وهي تقول هذا؟ قال: تأولت ما تأول عثمان. فلم أسأله ما تأول عثمان (٢).
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that at first two rak‘ahs were made obligatory. Then, in the prayer of residence, an addition was made, and the prayer of travel was kept as it was. Hazrat Zuhri says that I said to Hazrat Urwah that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) also says this and also performs the full prayer during travel; what is the reason for this? He replied that she interprets it in the same way as Hazrat Uthman did. I did not ask him what interpretation Hazrat Uthman gave for this.
