من كان لا يصلي الضحى؟Those Scholars Who Did Not Pray Duha
Hadith 7990
٧٩٩٠ - حدثنا وكيع قال: نا الأعمش عن أبي الضحى عن مسروق، قال: كنا نقرأ في المسجد فيثبت الناس في القراءة بعد قيام ابن مسعود ثم نقوم فنصلي (الضحى) (١) فبلغ ذلك ابن مسعود فقال: عباد اللَّه، لم تحملوا عباد اللَّه ما لم يحملهم اللَّه إن كنتم لابد فاعلين ففي بيوتكم (٢).
Hazrat Masruq says that we used to recite the Qur'an in the mosque, and sometimes people would continue reciting the Qur'an even after Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud had left his gathering. Then we would get up and perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer. When Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud came to know of this, he said, "O servants of Allah! Why do you make Allah's servants responsible for things that Allah has not made obligatory upon them? If you must perform this prayer, then offer it in your rooms."
