Hadith 7852
٧٨٥٢ - حدثنا وكيع ثنا مسعر (١) عن عثمان بن المغيرة الثقفي عن علي بن ربيعة ⦗١٤٥⦘ الوالبي عن أسماء بن الحكم الفزاري عن علي قال: كنت إذا سمعت من رسول اللَّه ﷺ حديثا نفعني اللَّه بما شاء منه، فإذا (حدثني) (٢) عنه (غيري) (٣) استحلفته، فإذا حلف لي صدقته، وإن أبا بكر حدثني وصدق أبو بكر (أنه قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ (٤): "ما من رجل يذنب ذنبا فيتوضأ فيحسن الوضوء ثم يصلي -قال: سفيان ثم يصلي ركعتين، قال مسعر: ثم يصلي- فيستغفر اللَّه إلا غفر له" (٥).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that whenever I heard a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah granted me some benefit from it. And if someone else narrated it to me, I would make him swear an oath to its truthfulness. If he swore, I would accept it as true. And Hazrat Abu Bakr truthfully narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever a servant commits a sin, then performs ablution well, then offers two rak‘ahs or any prayer, and seeks forgiveness from Allah, Allah forgives him.
