Hadith 7756
٧٧٥٦ - حدثنا وكيع (١) ثنا هشام بن عروة عن (أبيه) (٢) عن عائشة أنهم تذاكروا عند رسول اللَّه ﷺ في مرضه، فذكرت أم سلمة أو أم حبيبة كنيسة (رأتها) (٣) في أرض الحبشة (فيها) (٤) تصاوير فقال النبي ﷺ: "أولئك كانوا إذا كان فيهم الرجل الصالح فمات بنوا على قبره مسجدا وصوروه، أولئك شرار الخلق (عند اللَّه) (٥) " (٦).
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that during the illness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which he passed away, people were talking. Among them, Hazrat Umm Salamah or Umm Habibah said that they had seen a church in Abyssinia in which there were pictures. Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that it was their custom that when a righteous man among them passed away, they would make his grave a place of prostration and would make pictures of him. These people are the worst of all creatures.
