Hadith 7649
٧٦٤٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن محمد بن عجلان عن عياض بن عبد اللَّه بن سعد بن أبي سرح عن أبي سعيد، قال: دخل رسول اللَّه ﷺ المسجد وبيده عرجون وكان يحب العراجين، فرأى نخامة في القبلة فحكها، ثم أقبل على الناس فقال: "أيها الناس؛ إن أحدكم إذا قام يصلي استقبله اللَّه ﷿ وعن يمينه ملك، أفيحب أحدكم أن يستقبله الرجل فيبزق في وجهه، فلا يبزق أحدكم في القبلة ولا عن يمينه، وليبزق تحت رجله اليسرى أو عن يساره فإن عجلت به (بادرة) (١) (فليقل) (٢) هكذا"، يعني في ثوبه (٣).
Hazrat Abu Saeed narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque and there was a date palm branch in his hand; he used to like date palm branches. He saw spit in the direction of the Qiblah and scraped it off. Then, turning towards the people, he said: O people! When any one of you stands for prayer, he faces Allah Almighty, and there is an angel on his right side. Would any of you like to spit facing a man? Therefore, do not spit towards the Qiblah nor to your right side. If someone must spit, let him spit under his left foot or to his left side. If it is urgent, then spit into your garment.
