Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Jabir narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said that one mudd of water is sufficient for ablution and one sa’ of water is sufficient for bathing. A man asked, “O Jabir! How much is sufficient for us?” He replied, “As much as was sufficient for someone better than you and with more hair than you, that is, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.”
