Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zuhri states that the call to prayer (adhan) for Friday used to be given at the time when the Imam would come out. Then Hazrat Uthman, the Commander of the Faithful, initiated a third adhan on the minaret so that people could gather.
