Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibn Aun says that when the muezzin was giving the call to prayer for Jumu'ah and the imam had already come out for the prayer, I met Hammad bin Abi Sulayman. He spoke to me, but I did not say anything to him. Then, on the next Friday, we met again, and while the letters were being read, he spoke to me; he kept talking to me, but I remained silent. Upon this, he said to me, "O my nephew! Silence is only obligatory when the imams are giving admonition from the Book of Allah. Why should we remain silent for these letters?!" Ibn Aun says that I mentioned this to Ibrahim, and he said, "Satan comes to one of you and puts this whisper in his heart that silence on the day of Jumu'ah is only when the imams are giving admonition from the Book."
