Hadith 5104
٥١٠٤ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن يحيى بن ميسرة قال: سألت (عمرو بن مرة) (١) عن غسل يوم الجمعة سنّة؟ فقال: كان المسلمون يغتسلون، فأعدت عليه، فلم يزدنى عليَّ أن قال: كان المسلمون يغتسلون، فعرفت أنه شيء استحبه المسلمون وليس بسنَّة.
Hazrat Abu Usamah says that I asked Hazrat Yahya bin Maisarah about the ritual bath (ghusl) on Friday, whether performing ghusl on Friday is a Sunnah (obligatory)? He replied that Muslims used to perform ghusl on Fridays. I asked the same question again, and he gave me the same answer, that Muslims used to perform ghusl on Fridays. I understood that performing ghusl on Friday is recommended (mustahabb), not obligatory.
