Hadith 5089
٥٠٨٩ - حدثنا عبيد اللَّه عن شيبان (عن) (١) يحيى عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة أن عمر بن الخطاب بينما هو يخطب يوم الجمعة إذ جاء رجل فقال عمر: (لم) (٢) تحتبسون عن الصلاة؟ فقال الرجل: ما هو إلا أن سمعت النداء فتوضأت فقال: (والوضوء) (٣) أيضا! أَوَلم تسمعوا (أن) (٤) رسول اللَّه ﷺ كان يقول: "إِذَا رَاحَ أحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ" (٥).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab was delivering the sermon on Friday when a man came. Seeing him, Hazrat Umar said, "What is it that keeps you from the prayer?" The man said, "As soon as I heard the call to prayer, I performed ablution." Hazrat Umar said, "Ablution? Did you not hear the blessed saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that when any of you goes for Friday (prayer), he should perform ghusl (full ritual bath)?"
