من كره أن يؤمThose Who Disliked Leading the Prayer
Hadith 4165
٤١٦٥ - حدثنا هشيم قال أخبرنا (١) العوام قال: حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن أبي الهذيل قال: كان شيخ من (تلك) (٢) الشيوخ يؤم قومه، ثم ترك ذلك، قال: فلقيه بعض إخوانه، فقال (له) (٣): لم تركت إمامة قومك؟ قال: كرهت أن يمر المار فيراني أصلي فيقول: ما قدم هؤلاء هذا الرجل إلا وهو (خيرهم) (٤)، واللَّه لا أؤمهم أبدًا.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Hazil says that an elderly man used to lead people in prayer, but then he stopped leading the prayer. One of his friends asked him why he had stopped leading the prayer. He replied, "I dislike that someone should see me leading the prayer and say, 'This man has been put forward because he is the best among us.' By God! I will not lead the prayer again."
