Hadith 40641
٤٠٦٤١ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن شعبة عن ابن عون عن أبي الضحى قال: قال سليمان بن صرد الخزاعي للحسن بن علي: أعذرني عند أمير المؤمنين، فإنما منعني من يوم الجمل كذا وكذا، قال: فقال الحسن: لقد رأيته حين اشتد القتال يلوذ بي ويقول: يا حسن لوددت أني مت قبل هذا بعشرين حجة (١).
It is narrated from Abu al-Dhahha that Salman bin Sard requested Hasan to present his excuse to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he could not be present at the Battle of Jamal due to such and such reason. Hasan said: I saw Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when the battle was at its peak, that he was taking cover behind me and saying, "O Hasan! I wish I had died twenty years before this incident."
