Qais narrates that Marwan bin Hakam shot an arrow into the knee of Hazrat Talha on the day of the Battle of Jamal. Blood started to flow from it; whenever people tried to stop it, it would stop, and when they left it, the blood would start flowing again. Then Hazrat Talha said, "Leave it." When people tried to close the wound, the knee swelled up. Hazrat Talha said, "Leave it; this arrow is from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic." Then he passed away. We buried him on one side of Kala (a marketplace by the river). Someone from his family saw him in a dream, and he was saying, "Will you not save me from the water? I have drowned in the water." He said these words three times. His grave was dug up, and he had turned green like spinach. People removed the water from him, and when they took him out, the part of his beard and face that was in contact with the ground had been consumed by the earth. For him, a house from among the houses of the family of Abu Bakrah was bought for ten thousand dirhams, and Hazrat Talha was buried in it.
