Hadith 40561
٤٠٥٦١ - (حدثنا) (١) ابن إدريس عن حصين عن ميسرة (أبي) (٢) جميلة قال: إن أول يوم تكلمت الخوارج يوم الجمل قالوا: ما أَحلَّ لنا دماءهم وحرم علينا ذراريهم وأموالهم قال: فقال علي: إن (العيال) (٣) مني على الصدر والنحر، ولكم في خمسمائة خمسمائة، جعلتها لكم ما يغنيكم عن العيال (٤).
It is narrated from Maisarah Abi Jameelah who says: The first time I met the Khawarij was on the day of Jamal. They were saying: Allah has not made their blood lawful for us, and He has made their children and wealth unlawful for us. He says that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My family and dependents are at the forefront, on the chest and neck (i.e., leading in battle), and for you there is five hundred dirhams each from the spoils of war, which will make you independent from your families and dependents.
