Hadith 40525
٤٠٥٢٥ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن الجريري عن أبي العلاء قال: قالوا (لمطرف) (١): هذا عبد الرحمن بن الأشعث قد أقبل، فقال مطرف: واللَّه لئن (٢) يرى بين أمرين: لئن ظهر لا يقوم للَّه دين، ولئن ظهر عليه لا يزالون أذلة إلى يوم القيامة.
It is narrated from Abu Al-Ala that people said to Mutarrif: "This is Abdur Rahman bin Al-Ash'ath who has come; he has embarked upon two matters: if he prevails, the religion of Allah will not be established, and if he is defeated, you will remain humiliated until the Day of Resurrection."
