Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hasan narrates that the Ansar came to the service of Hazrat Uthman and said, "O Commander of the Faithful, we have helped Allah twice (stood firm in the way of Allah twice) and also helped His Messenger (peace be upon him). We will help you as well." So he said, "There is no need for that, you may return." Hasan used to say, "By Allah, if the Ansar had intended to stop them (the rebels) even through their weak ones, they would have easily stopped them."
