Hazrat Umar bin Ishaq narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Hazrat Abu Bakr set out towards Madinah, Suraqah bin Malik also followed them. When he reached them, he said: "These are the two persons whom the Quraysh are seeking. If only I could return these wanted persons to the Quraysh." The narrator says: He made his horse run towards these two gentlemen, but the horse sank into the ground. Suraqah said: "Both of you pray to Allah that He brings the horse out. I will not come near you." The narrator says: So the horse came out. Then Suraqah repeated his previous action, and this happened two or three times. The narrator says: Then Suraqah stopped. Then he said: "Come, take this provision and mount." They replied: "We do not intend to, and we do not need it."
