Hadith 39336
٣٩٣٣٦ - حدثنا وكيع عن حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن أنس بن مالك قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "مررت ليلة أسري بي على قوم (تقرض) (١) شفاههم بمقاريض من نار، (فقلت) (٢): من هولاء؟ قيل: هؤلاء خطباء من أهل الدنيا ممن (كانوا) (٣) (يأمرون) (٤) الناس بالبر وينسون (أنفسهم) (٥) وهم يتلون الكتاب أفلا (يعقلون) (٦) " (٧).
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The night I was taken on the Night Journey, I passed by a group of people whose lips were being cut with scissors of Hell. I asked: Who are these people? It was said: These are the preachers of the world who used to enjoin good upon others but forgot themselves, and they used to recite the Book. Do they not have sense?
