Hadith 39285
٣٩٢٨٥ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين حدثنا (معرف) (١) (حدثتني) (٢) حفصة ابنة (طلق) (٣) امرأة من الحي سنة تسعين عن (جدي) (٤) أبي (عَميرة) (٥) رشيد بن مالك قال: كنت عند النبي ﷺ جالسا ذات يوم، فجاء رجل بطبق عليه تمر، فقال: "ما هذا؟ صدقة أم هدية؟ " فقال الرجل: بل صدقة، فقدمها إلى القوم، والحسن (متعفر) (٦) بين يديه فأخذ تمرة فجعلها في (فيه) (٧)، فنظر رسول اللَّه ﷺ إليه، فأدخل إصبعه في فيه ثم قال بها، ثم قال: "إنا آل محمد (٨) لا نأكل الصدقة" (٩).
Hazrat Abu Umairah Rasheed bin Malik narrates that one day I was present in the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man arrived carrying a tray in which there were dates. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What is this? Is it charity or a gift?" The man replied, "(It is not a gift) rather, it is charity." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then passed the tray of dates towards the people. Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) was rolling in the dust in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he picked up a date and put it in his mouth. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, so he put his blessed finger into his mouth and took it out. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Indeed, we, the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), do not eat charity."
