Hadith 38464
٣٨٤٦٤ - حدثنا محمد بن عبد اللَّه الأسدي قال: حدثنا إسرائيل عن (أبي) (١) حصين عن خيثمة قال: كان عيسى بن مريم (٢) ويحيى (ابني) (٣) خالة، وكان عيسى يلبس الصوف، وكان يحيى يلبس الوبر، ولم يكن لواحد منهما دينار ولا درهم، ولا عبد ولا أمة، ولا مأوى يأويان إليه، أينما (جنهما) (٤) الليل أويا، فلما (أرادا) (٥) أن يفترقا قال له (يحيى) (٦): أوصني، قال: لا تغضب، قال: لا أستطيع إلا أن أغضب، قال: لا (تقتن) (٧) مالا، (قال) (٨): أما هذا فعسى.
Hazrat Khathimah, may Allah have mercy on him, says that Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) and Yahya (peace be upon him) were maternal cousins. Isa (peace be upon him) used to wear woolen clothes, and Yahya (peace be upon him) used to wear clothes made from camel skin. Neither of them possessed any dirham nor dinar, nor did they have any slave or bondwoman, nor did they have any place of shelter where they could take refuge. Wherever night would fall, they would stay there. Then, when they intended to part ways, Yahya (peace be upon him) would request Isa (peace be upon him) to give him some advice. He would say, "Do not get angry." Yahya (peace be upon him) would reply, "I cannot control myself from getting angry." Then Isa (peace be upon him) would say, "Do not accumulate wealth." Yahya (peace be upon him) would respond, "Indeed, this is an easy task."
