Hadith 38253
٣٨٢٥٣ - حدثنا عفان قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن ثابت (أن) (١) أبا ثامر] (٢) كان رجلا عابدا، فنام ذات ليلة قبل أن يصلي العشاء، فأتاه ملكان أو رجلان في منامه، فقعد أحدهما عند رأسه، والآخر (عند) (٣) رجليه، فقال الذي عند رأسه للذي عند رجليه: الصلاة قبل النوم [ترضي الرحمن وتسخط الشيطان، وقال الذي عند رجليه للذي عند رأسه: (إن) (٤) النوم قبل الصلاة] (٥) يرضي الشيطان ويسخط الرحمن.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thabit that Abu Thamir was a devout worshipper. One day, before performing the Isha prayer, he fell asleep. Then two angels came to him, or two men came to him in a dream, and one of them sat by his head and the other by his feet. Then the one at his head said to the one at his feet: "Praying before sleeping pleases the Most Merciful and angers Satan." And the one at his feet said to the one at his head: "Sleeping before prayer pleases Satan and angers the Most Merciful."
