Hadith 38187
٣٨١٨٧ - حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير قال: حدثنا مالك بن مِغْوَل عن طلحة عن مجاهد قال: إذا التقى الرجلُ كل الرجلَ فضحك في وجهه، (تحاتت) (١) عنهما الذنوب كما (ينثر) (٢) الريح الورق اليابس من الشجر، قال: فقال رجل: (٣) إن هذا من العمل يسير، قال: فقال: ما سمعت قوله تعالى: ﴿لَوْ أَنْفَقْتَ مَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مَا أَلَّفْتَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ﴾ [التوبة: ٦٣].
Hazrat Mujahid said that when a person meets another and smiles, his sins fall away just as the wind shakes dry leaves from the tree. The narrator says that someone asked, "This is a very small act." So he replied, "Have you not heard the saying of Allah: { لَوْ أَنْفَقْتَ مَا فِی الأَرْضِ جَمِیعًا مَا أَلَّفْتَ بَیْنَ قُلُوبِہِمْ } that even if you were to spend all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts."
