٣٨١١٠ - حدثنا أبو أسامة قال: حدثنا محمد بن عمرو عن صفوان بن سليم (قال: قال أبو مسلم) (١) الخولاني: كان الناس ورقا لا شوك فيه، وإنهم اليوم شوك لا ورق فيه، إن ساببتهم (سبوك) (٢)، وإن ناقدتهم ناقدوك، وإن (تركتهم) (٣) لم يتركوك.
Hazrat Abu Muslim Khaulani says that people were once like a leaf without any thorn. Today, they are like a thorn without any leaf. If you abuse them, they will abuse you profusely, and if you mention their faults, they will mention your faults abundantly. And if you leave them alone, they will not leave you alone.
