٣٧٩٧٥ - حدثنا معاوية بن هشام قال: حدثنا سفيان عن (بختري) (١) (الطائي) (٢) قال: كان يقول: اغبط الأحياء بما تغبط به الأموات، واعلم أن العبادة ⦗٥٤٧⦘ لا تصلح إلا بزهد، وذُل [عند الطاعة، (واستصعب) (٣) عند] (٤) معصية، وأحِبَّ الناس على (قدر) (٥) تقواهم.
It is narrated about Hazrat Bakhtari Tai that he used to say: The things for which the dead feel envy, the living should also feel envy for them. Know that worship is not correct without asceticism, and be gentle at the time of virtue, be strict at the time of sin, and love people according to their piety.
