Hadith 37820
٣٧٨٢٠ - حدثنا (حسين) (١) بن علي عن المهلب بن عقبة قال: كان عمر بن عبد العزيز يخطب يقول: إن من أحب (الأمور) (٢) إلى اللَّه القصد في الجدة، والعفو في المقدرة، والرفق في الولاية، وما رفق عبد (بعبد) (٣) في (الدنيا) (٤) إلا رفق اللَّه به يوم (القيامة) (٥).
It is narrated from Hazrat Muhallab bin Uqbah that he said: When Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz delivered a sermon, he would say: Among the deeds most beloved to Allah Almighty are moderation in wealth, forgiveness when able, and gentleness when in authority. Whoever shows gentleness to a servant (of Allah) in this world, Allah Almighty will show gentleness to him on the Day of Resurrection.
